Twelve companies from around the state of Michigan have been selected to receive the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center’s (MI-SBTDC) Best Small Business Award.
For nearly 50 years Cadillac Culvert, Inc. (formally Premarc) has been a fixture in the Cadillac area. Cadillac Culvert. is a manufacturer of underground drainage products and specializes in metal fabrication. Both Don Aldrich and Chuck Thomas had been working for Premarc for 35 years when the company filed for bankruptcy. They immediately knew they wanted to pull together and save it.
Cadillac Culvert Turns It Around
Cadillac Culvert is a perfect example of a business that was saved and now expanding thanks to MCDC. It was in bankruptcy when the current owners, Chuck Thomas and Don Aldrich, bought the business and the equipment using an SBA 504 and a SBA 7(a) for a working line of credit.
Cadillac Culvert is one of twelve companies from around the state of Michigan that has been selected to receive the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center’s (MI-SBTDC) Best Small Business Award. These companies were chosen from over 13,000 small businesses that received confidential counseling and training from MI-SBTDC in 2012.
The story of Cadillac Culvert is an inspiring tale of how community members from several different areas and industries came together to save the jobs of their friends and neighbors.
